Hi! I’m Jenessa

As a registered Speech-Language Pathologist (SLP) for 15 years, I believe that one’s own curiosity and others’ encouragement should drive learning, and joy should result, fueling the desire to continually keep learning! Supporting children should not simply be one-sided learning on their part, but those of us supporting them should continue to be learning how we can best support them.
I became interested in the development of speech and language while completing a Bachelor’s of Arts in Linguistics at the University of Calgary. I went on to complete a Master’s of Science in Speech-Language Pathology at the University of Alberta. I have completed additional training in the areas of literacy, brain development, language skills, social communication, and speech sound skills.
I aim to support students in their journey of communication development through personalized therapy, rapport-building, problem-solving, and collaboration between families, therapists, and the educational team. Prior to providing private SLP services, I worked as a speech-language pathologist in school, child care, and clinic settings with individuals aged 1 through 17 years old. I especially enjoy supporting children and teenagers in the areas of literacy/preliteracy, language skills, and speech sounds.

In my free time, I enjoy singing, baking, hiking, travelling the world, and continuing to learn new things.
